Do I need boiler cover?
You don’t need your boiler, until you do. With one in five boilers in the UK breaking down each year, it’s likely your boiler will need repairing at some point.
Here are some things to consider…
Some home insurance policies will cover your boiler, however, it’s usually very basic cover. In most cases, standard home insurance will not cover the cost of fixing or replacing a broken boiler.
Boiler repairs are not cheap – you can expect to pay around £150 for minor repair and up to £1000 for a more severe problem, such as replacing the heat exchanger. A Young Repair boiler cover package will help ensure you aren’t hit with these costly and unexpected repair bills, giving you peace of mind 365 days a year.
Regularly servicing your boiler before or after the winter months will prepare it for the next season, helping it to function properly.
When you are paying your monthly care amount, you are ‘buying’ yourself the peace of mind that comes from knowing you are covered in the event of a boiler problem.
A boiler cover plan is beneficial if you own your home, and your boiler runs on natural gas. If you don’t own your home, or don’t use natural gas to run your boiler, then you won’t get the benefits of boiler cover.
What’s not included in your boiler cover
We pride ourselves on being honest and transparent, so you can put your trust in us. Our comprehensive boiler cover packages offer genuine value for money and our customers rest easier knowing that we’ll be on hand whenever they need us most. While there’s plenty of things our plans include, there are certain things that our boiler care plans don’t include.
Here are some of the key exclusions across our range of plans:
- Any maintenance or remedial work that is not part of the boiler service.
- A test of the gas installation pipework unless there is a known or suspected escape of gas.
- Systems that are powered by anything other natural gas.
- Systems and appliances that have not been installed, maintained, and used in accordance with manufactures instructions and or current regulations or best practise.
- Showers and shower pumps upgrades or improvements to your system.
- Accidental damage if you or someone working in your property causes a fault – this should be covered by your home insurance.
- Repairing faults caused by limescale/ sludge.
- Repairing pre-existing faults or faults that occurred within the first 14 days
